understanding photography

Photography becoming one of the most wanted job in our new century, more and more new photographer joining the club. i would like to take this opportunity to welcome all of those. photography classes becoming more and more popular as well, some choose to be specialized in portraiture, landscape, wedding, corporate and even underwater. well, this thing come with many question how to become great in photography. let start with the basic stuffs that many of the photographer need to know(some of us know of course, some of us know but dont know how to apply, and some of us actually get the great gadgets but haven't know how to understand the terms yet). so, here i will write a little bit about the basic of understanding aperture and shutter speed. many photographer sharing this but most of us sharing in photography terms. i will try to explain in easy words, try to make everybody understand about what i am going to say.

Shutter speed
Alongside with the name, shutter mean the trigger(to close) and speed mean how fast. now get it? how fast. memories it if needed. once again 'HOW FAST', in this issue, compare with your car window. when you open and shut it. if you open and close it fast/immediately-less light going in, if you open and close it slow, more light going in. logically, the slower you close your car window, the more light enter to you car. hah-ha, get the idea? try it then. go to your shutter speed preference(usually indicate as TV setting on you camera), and set it on 1/60, 1/250, 1/800, 1/1000, 1/2000 and see the different. happy trying, buddy!

Aperture
This is another superb monster in our camera's system. imagine your car window again, aperture mean how wide you open your window. well, memories it: How wide or how big you open. the wider you open-more light coming through, the smaller you open-less light coming in. more light mean brighter to your pictures! great explanation so far? now its come to F. stop(easy word mean F.no or aperture no). When you press the button to open your car window, you are actually lower down the glasses right? And the lower the glasses, the wider it is open, and giving you more light of course, right? yes, it is, same to your aperture, when you lower down the no(F.no), its creating wider space for the light to enter. Get your gadget and try now, i mean now...set the camera to aperture preference setting(indicate as AV), start with F20, F16, F10, F4.5, F2.8. try until you see the different mate.

Let me know if this is useful for readers, its the first explanation which i try to answer in simple and common words. i will talk more about the details in the future surely, for those interested to join my free guide, please join this blog- it is free and we can create a strong community in the future. if you have any request about particular topics, or if you would like to contribute some articles(in easy word and original-not a link), it will be very welcome! please email me at andylua@perhentianisland.net.

conclusion: shutter speed = how fast, aperture = how wide.
